This is the interior of a drum during the building process. This is actually Zio #1, the very first of the design. The owner of the drum brought it back to me for some updating. I've applied three different coatings to the inside, addressing sound optimization and preservation. On the lowest note, I engrave the production number(not pictured). After this is completed, I carefully tend to overtone dampening to find a balance between resonance, tone and volume.
This is just one small aspect of my process. As you can see, this step alone takes time and attention to detail. Before the Lotus Drum is assembled, I spend many hours working on the inside, because that's where the sound originates.
