This is the first website I have ever had and the first website I have ever built. I hope you like it. I am constantly working to improve my navigation system, sound samples, images, videos and literary content. I promise it will get better as I get the hang of it.
I've never had a blog either, so.. this is another first.
Lotusdrum.com went live a few days ago and so far it's off to an decent start.
A little background on myself; I've been building drums for a while and selling them locally. Sometimes I have put them up on ebay but my girlfriend kept tossing the idea around of getting a website going... Well.. I finally did.
I have been a hand-drummer for many years, I play the cajon, conga, doumbek, djembe, bongos etc and have always had an interest in building drums. I have built Cajons and a few djembe-like instruments but the Lotus Drum has been my favorite by-far. It takes a lot of work; many hours, materials and focus, but I am addicted to making and playing them so it's very well worth it due to the fact that I get to play around on all the different scales before I ship them off :D.. call it "quality control".
I do not own a Lotus Drum of my own due to time restrictions but I do get to play around with all of the drums I build for others and am lucky to have the opportunity to play with so many different scales. The first time someone ordered a "Bilanese C C# D# G G# C C# D#" drum, I had no idea what it would sound like. I tried the scale on my keyboard and was a bit intrigued... after working on the drum for a few days I realized that the scale was actually pretty cool. So far, it was my greatest tuning challenge consisting of major notes followed by their sharpened counterparts. The sound was unique, I wish I could have gotten to keep that one for myself...(that happens often).
Favorite tuning so far: Japanese pentatonic: A
Well.. .that's it for my first entry on this blog thingy. This SEO stuff is tricky..
Someone please purchase a drum so I can get off of the computer and get back to work :)
blessings to you.
